Default Courier service

I will shortly be putting down a deposit for a CB Burmesse Brown. The intention was that at the end of November my wife and myself would travel to see family in Newcastle prior to christmas (we live in Aberdeen)
Then travel to norfolk to pick up the tortoise, now my significant other is saying that she doesn't want to go to Newcastle prior to Christmas.

Can you see my dilema? If need be I will have to travel down myself, but was wondering does anybody now of a reliable courier that can deliver to Edinburgh? Reason Being our daughter has a flat there so that would be the delivey point and I could easily travel there and back in one day.

I know all the arguments for and against courier, so don't star a flame war over it please.

Regards Allan

As you know all the arguments for and against, then you will know from members experiences there are no fully reliable couriers. Personally I think you have to decide what is most important - the transport of this tortoise or keeping wifey happy

Reptile Taxi are brilliant and not expensive at all. They are brilliant ladys and very experienced. Everyone who has used them only has good things to say. If they are going that way anyway they will add you on at half the price.
They even do mass runs if there are a few people wanting somthing from the same area they will do the run for £40 (as long as they get alot of people interested).

They have picked up tortoises so know what to do.

They are located in Manchester

I had a turt delivered by Reptile Taxi last year, £40 from Cardiff to London which I thought was pretty good, a lot less than I'd want to do it!

It arrived safely and came direct, no overnight stops, driven by someone who actually keeps reptiles and is aware of their requirements, rather than some parcel delivery driver who most likely wouldn't even know what he was carrying.

How on earth do they manage to operate if they only charge for fuel? Running costs for any vehicle don't stop at fuel, and who has the time (or inclination) to drive around the country delivering tortoises for free?

I mean it sounds great, but almost too good to be true!
