What's your idea of a large tank? What species are they btw? Sorry I presumed you meant standard slider or cooter. The lighting is real simple: In the wild they love basking in the sun, the suns rays warm them up, and provide UVB (aswell as UVA). So you need to provide a heat bulb, and a UVB bulb - minimum strength of 5.0, but if you can get the distance 10.0 is better.....or better still if your tank is large enough, get a MVB.

ummm i dont know what type it is -.- but ill post a picture of simalar to what it looks like tommorow because i gtg now

You say your turt is only 3-4 months old, what makes you think it's male? It's almost impossible to sex a turt of this age, it could be at least a couple of years before you know for sure whether it's male or female.

If it's a female it may lay eggs even if you don't have a male, they will just be infertile, turts are like chickens in that respect. But even if you had a male as well and the eggs were fertilized you could simply choose not to incubate them.

ummm i read up and it said if the bottomof the turtles shell is flat its male if it sticks out its female and if the tail is to the middle of its body.
