I always used a standard spot bulb (100 w) and it seemed to work fine. I'm not a great believer in branded products... I would also recommend fixing a large island under the bulb, so they can get good access for basking.

I will do guys. I take it I need some kind of ceramic mount though to stop it from melting?

Will get on straight away.

Their UV source is a Reptisun 5.0, is this too little?

You shouldn't need a ceramic fitting with a standard household reflector bulb, just something rated to the appropiate wattage. A 5.0 as mentioned is the minimum, how old is it?

As the others have said a normal reflector lamp is fine for heat. I find a 40-60W to be ample, either an R63 or R80, £1.49 for three in Wickes etc..., and you don't need a ceramic holder as it's just an ordinary domestic lamp.
A higher rated UVB would help too, as James says 5% is really the absolute minimum and needs to be mounted about 6" from the basking area to do any good.
A diet rich in Vitamin A also helps with scute retention, Koi wheatgerm pellets are an excellent source and can be fed in place of whatever pellets you normally use.
