Default Lost Tort

Well, at the title says, I've lost my tort... kind of. I let him in the garden during the day, and bring him inside to his table at night. (we have a lot of foxes in my area, I don't want him to get eaten, obviously) However, I couldn't find him last night, he seems to have just vanished. There's noway he could have escaped since the garden is fenced all around. I searched every inch for about 2 hours, and then later with the help of others, still with no result. I had another look this morning with no avail, and I'm kinda worried about him. I was just wondering what advise would you give in finding a Hermann tort, 4 years old. How long will he be ok for outside? (it was really cold and raining last night), Thanks.

he is probably buried somewhere, check at the base of shrubs and plants, if the sun is out and its warm he'll probably come out to wander and eat!

Contact the TT as they have a 'Lost/found' section on the website - also a yahoo group that can get the details across to thousands of people.

Good luck with the search - have you posters up?

Your tortoise could have dug down if the temps dropped. Look at the sunniest place in your garden today and place some food there - his favourite.

As the others have said he could have buried himself.. my little one did that recently and had me flapping for a few hours..then came up to catch a few rays like it was the most natural thing in the world... well for them it is..it's just the owners that panic

hopefully he will have just dug down during the late afternoon/evening to thermoregulate n should come out to warm up... fingers crossed for u tho hun

Hey guys, thanks for the replys. He turned up eventually yesterday when I got home from work. I went for a little look in the garden under a plant... he wasn't there, turned round, and he's there just looking at me, hah! He must have dug in quite deep for me not to find him. He's ok having spent the night out in the cold and rain, was just pretty hungry and slept soon after I brought him back inside.
