Default Slovenian "CB" vs UKCB

Hi guys, I'm relatively new to tortoise keeping, my previous experience has been helping out my gran with her Hermann's, but I now have 2 of my very own, I believe I have all the necessary equipment to keep them in a healthy, stimulating environment;

I have both an indoor and outdoor custom built enclosure, a raised, enclosed bed just for weeds growing, necessary supplements such as a Cuttlefish Bone, Nutrobal, and Limestone Flour.

Their indoor enclosure is used for nights and cold days, I implement the PowerSun UV bulb on this.

My only concern for my tortoises well being is their origin, their certificates state CB Slovenia. Is this a problem overall? I've been reading posts over recent times about loopholes sending WC tortoises through Germany etc.

Both tortoises are 04's and were issued certificates end of June 2006.

Basically what I'm getting at I suppose, are there any specific weaknesses or problems commonly found with "CB" Slovenian Hermann's and UKCB?

Any info would be greatly appreciated;

P.S (Tortoises were bought for me and therefore I was not able to source a reputable breeder myself)

You might want to take them to the vet for a worming dose, and just get a faecal sample to eliminate the possibility of any parasites.

And moved on request

Thankyou!

I'm led to believe they have been wormed, but I will certainly get them checked out again.

Yes please get your tortoise check for worms.

When your tortoise was imported over it it would have been packed in boxes with other tortoises on top of one another, by the time they get to the UK about 1-2 weeks half are dead, the surviving ones are very very stressed and the conditions in that box will have been horrible poo, wee etc so huge risk of disease and worms. By the time the surviving ones hit the pet shop then get sold on half of those are dead.

Its a shocking trade and a baby tortoise can cost as little as 50p and then sold in the UK for £150.
