I really think you should both give it a go. it is a scary thing to do and even very experienced keepers worry but they know they are doing whats best for the animal,it is what they are designed to do, once youve done it you'l wonder why you never did it before! you can keep an eye on them and check their weight, the fridge method is great as the temps tend to to stay the same.
Do some research, youve got a while yet to get it sorted! |

Sometimes the mini fridges can be unreliable but you can test the temps and whether they are stables for a while before you hibernate, ive got a great link to website which gives a step by step guide to hibernating but its at work so i'll post it tomorrow.
I'll probably hibernate mine(1 &3yrs old) nearer december time with a few weeks wind down before then!they will go in a box of hemp which they will make themselves cosy in. Anyway,i'll post that link tomorrow so you can have a read-you'l be fine with it honestly! |

Thanks you all are very helpful will definately be hibernating Hurley now especially as he a little piggy and overweight! It is scarey though in case you get it wrong! Any idea where you can but hemp from? I live in Cornwall and can't find any sellers of it down here which is why I've put him on a sand and loam mix which the tortoise trust recommended
