I have been told from someone to feed a tortoise 6 out of 7 days ? Is this right or should it be everyday ?

I am also not sure how much food to give him. How much food would you suggest ?

A few weeds every other day should be okay. Even if you missed a day you should be okay. Any overfeeding can be dangerous and can put strain on the liver. As long as you weigh him every fortnight and he is putting on a bit of weight you know you are getting it right. If he is losing weight then he is very hungry or has worms and needs to see a vet.

Some people miss a day, some dont. I personally feel it depends on the tort's weight gain, obviously if the tort is not gaining enough weight per month then I would never miss a day's feeding. However, if it is gaining more than the recommended monthly 3gr then I would decrease the amount given each day rather than miss a day completely.

As for the amount - think of a 'weed jacket' - enough weeds to cover the little one's shell - no more, no less.
