The seller is building a new website at the moment as they are moving to a bigger premises and it does not have the right information on it. I was given the name and number by a guy who works with Tortoise Trust.

They were delivered, yes.

The were delivered by a courier in a heated van. They came from Devon which is about two hours away from Bristol.

I think we will be taking them to the vet on Monday if they don't perk up.

Aww, I'm sorry! That is really sad. I have a vet who deals with reptiles near me so I hope they will be of use.

As advised please get your tort to the vet asap. Leos are notorious for going down hill very quickly - I have recently dealt with a seizure of over 100 of them at Heathrow, so I know! It depends greatly on whether they are wild caught too - one lot of seizures were tracked after arriving at Heathrow and they has spent weeks tied together by their feet in boxes on the tarmac of an airport. Sadly, once rehomed to caring TT members they started to die, post mortems revealed nothing, their little bodies could take no more. The shock of their journey killed them.

The seizure I dealt with are not doing too bad, one death so far! However, most have trauma injuries to their little limbs from the capture technique and them being tied together to prevent crawling around. Check your little ones' limbs as soon as possible too. Look for red areas or swelling.

Also, the Tortoise Trust would knowingly never support an internet dealer who couriers tortoises. Please can you email me the name of the person/company please (tamie.milne@btinternet.com).

I would just like to add to my post that if someone is passing themselves off as 'working with the Tortoise Trust' then they are doing a great dis-service to the tortoises. People are reassured by the TT and could purchase tortoises feeling they must be 'ok' as the TT are somehow involved.

I hope you email me with the details - for the sake of your tortoises and others being duped into purchasing & having tortoises delivered by courier, as you have done.

I am not judging you at all and will help with advise all I can but please help me to prevent others being fooled by this link to the Tortoise Trust.

I am sorry if I have caused any confusion. The man we received the tortoises from runs a national tortoise rescue trust. I was recommended him by a family friend and a man off of another forum.

It was my mistake for involving the Tortoise Trust. I solely got confused.

I hope this sheds some light and helps ease worry for RFUK members.
