Default What Is a small...

type of turtle or terrapin? please i only wanna know coz they are fairly big the terrapin i got.

im 17 i know i dont knw what im typeing most of the time. i mean what is the smallest terapin or turtle? like the map turtle or somthing.

i have read about them they about 10-15 cm the males are smaller.

Sorry Zoe what you have read is wrong!

Maps may start out small, as they all do, but a female can still grow to 10" which is pretty big for most people, a single adult female would need a 5' tank. Males are considerably smaller and rarely exceed 5", but you'd need to have an older juvenile in order to sex it.
I saw an adult female Map last weekend, and she was as big as some of the adult YBS and RES that she shares a pond with.

The only turtles available in the UK that can truly be said to be small are the Musks, even females don't exeed 5" (Common Musk).
