That's normal for them to go to the toilet in the bath, sounds like your doing all the right things

thanks for that, i feel i'm doing good now, and chuffed to nuts!!! Jaz has been in the garden with me yesterday and he is just a changed little man since i got him. i have also had total trauma , like him, after i bought him from that awful man in the pet shop. My own fault, i researched the tortoise but not the house and given what i know now after hours and hours on internet i blame myself. I went back to the guy at pet shop, 5 days ago and tried to get a refund on what he had sold me...... 24x16x12 viv/terranium with a exo terra 60w ceramic bulb with 15w uv bulb. i was basically met with the reponse that what he sold me was of course the best set up for tortoises. whilst i was there, i was horrified to see 2 leopards in the same tank (but, this time both twice the size of my Jazzy) cowering in the corner. i said to him, after he told me that it was bought as seen and what could he do with second hand stuff!! i responded that as an animal lover, he obviously wasnt ( he has got snakes and everything, but thats not my subject but i'll suspect that they are not doing good either??)i told him that if i had 700 pounds in my pocket right there and then, i would buy the other 2 leos and also the hermanns (5 small in the same size tank)from him just to get them out of his evil hands!!! anyway i ended up storming out of the shop, and i want to take it further,,,, can you give me any advice? on both the cruelty that i feel they are all enduring? but forgive me ,if he is not, its just my opinion on what i know now. what, he is advising customers and charging an extruciating amount of money for the privelege. he also sold me some out of date dried tortoise food and a book, that had no relevance to my Jaz. Jaz is safe now but i really feel i should be taking this further for the sake of the other little ones and the next one's he gets he evil paws on. Shall i contact the tortoise soceity, do you think that is the best point of contact from what i have told you above?

If you go onto google and do a search for Yahoo groups, there is one there called the Tortoise protection group. They are currently compiling a list of shops like the one you are talking about here ready to take action. I would post on there it's all you can really do I'm afraid

by the way i have planted up 4 trays of the seeds, wooo hoo, i didnt recognise any of their names!! you reckon about 2 weeks for a decent coverage? i couldnt find the sprinkle top for my watering can so improvised with a kitchen sieve, worked a treat and also put them indoors like you suggested for better growth. In the mean time,, thats me 'the early morning weed warrior" till then!!

Mine are nearly three weeks old now and probably just about big enough to be used as food. Not quite big enough to grow back once I've hacked them down though yet so I'm going to give them another couple of weeks
