i wouldn't do as there is the risk that the tortoise will eat it, n it could cause problems.

Hemp all the way it looks nice enough and is safe if they do decide to have a nibble.. I think sand n soil looks nice..like me earthy tones

oki, i have the sand and soil i am trying to think of things as i had to take his habba hut out as he kept climbing to the top and jumping off and landing on his back, just trying to make his table a fun place while i build him a bigger one, as the one i have is way to small he just goes round the edges trying to climb out, if you have any ideas they would be most appreciated.

Thankies Katie xxx

I use shredded paper in my outdoor run hutch and my tortoises have never eaten it - the only thing i wouldnt suggest doing is using shredded news paper as the print may be toxic!

Hey i dont think i could trust stan not to eat it, he'll eat anything unless it has Nutro-bal on it, i have resorted to dandelion smoothies that i dip his weeds in and then he eats it!

Shredded paper can be dangerous for little ones as it can get wrapped around their necks.
Substrate is important for thermoregulating and paper does not provide this as it is too light.
