Default Tortoises

Hiya. My Dad is looking into buying me either a breeding pair, or 4 hermanns tortoises.

My Dad is going to build me a run and 'shed' for them. It will have a heat lamp and UVB bulb. What is the minimum size for up to 5 adult torts and also how big will they grow? Will i need to lock them in the shed at night or can they come and go as they like?

Pictures of your outdoor set-ups will be much appreciated.

Thanks, Tom.

As a rule of thumb the bigger the better but make sure they cannot get out or anything else get in, i have 10 spurgh thighs that have nearly the whole garden, my 3 redfoot adults have an area 20 foot by 20 foot and my 2 leopards have about 15 foot square, both reds and leopards are put in a secure 10 x 8 shed each overnight which is locked and alarmed

if they are outside the sun will provide uv but you will need a basking lamp to warm them up in the mornings. where are you getting your torts from?

PLEASE do not buy via the internet, the internet dealer that encourages you to 'buy a tortoise' is a dealer, meaning there is a VERY VERY high chance the tort will be a wild caught tortoise - taken straight from the wild.

PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS TRADE.
