Firstly yes my totoises are in a vivarium as this was recommended by a shop and yes naively i listened as i wanted to do what was best by my two little ones! i did ask them about me building a tortoise table but he told me they cause major complications with tortoises and not to listen to people online as you dont know who your speaking to and everyone thinks they are an expert! now looking at all these threads i realise that the people who know best are the people who have got them. my husband will build me a table but in the mean time what is suggested should i take the glass doors out would this be ok? it a home made one like a large box 25 by 18 i think its big. with the full front having double glass sliding doors which i could take out. when the glass is in my tank thermometer reads about 35 0c when the glass is left open it reads about 31 0c.
also sorry to be a pain but ive a couple of problems and i cant seem to find the threads on here that i think would answer them 1. my tortoise also has white in its wee what is this and is it ok. 2. the female tortoise wees on me or whoever if she has to be handled. is this ok? or could it mean something like shes got an infection. 3. what wattage heat lamp do i need ive got a 75 watt and this seems a bit to high it gets very hot would a 40 watt be better and can you actually get them this small. 4. what wattage for uvb is actually recommended. and the last thing is that i didnt want to buy a tortoise bred elsewhere thus me helping the bad trade so to speak, i spoke to the place i got them from several times who insisted they were bred here and insisted that they had all their papers, which he gave me and they are yellow ( i hope this is what they are meant to be like) now ive bought the poor little mites im getting told they arent ukcb!! which your site says to ask. i am really upset that i might have contributed to something bad and this is why i went and asked lots of questions and didnt just go and get one but be wary they seem to be getting around it by not telling the truth or an edited version. |
