I can understand where your coming from and yes its not nice but tesco arn't going to build a supermarket in china and fill it with yorkshire puddings and potato waffles are they? the same if a chinese company based supermarket was placed here they wont fill it with loads of chinese food most of us have never heard of, tesco have to plan there supermarkets around the cultures and tastes of where ever it places its shops. Do you think any type of killing is right? would you mind being killed for food if you were killed humanly? Its normal to them like eating burgers and sausages is normal to us, maybe we dont see it as right but its the way things go

I am not going to be dragged into a moral argument over this, I've given my point of view which I am entitled to and will leave it at that........sign the petition of you think its wrong, don't sign if you don't, its a simple as that.
I WOULD certainly mind being killed for food !!! Humanely (which the turtles in Tesco supermarkets arent) or otherwise !!!

I don't 'do' meat

i agree with the petition and ive have willingly and happily signed up, its sickening to think people can do this i know my signiture wont change lives or stop this inhumane behaviour but i feel better in myself and hopefully very soon they will have enough for this to stop its no a matter of debate its simply an act of what you feel.

I totally agree with the petition, but an internet petition is not going to change chinese culture, I dont think anything would be able to, there is constant campaigning against it but they will never listen, as someone said sadly its life, and theres nothing we can do to stop it.

No one is trying to change Chinese culture, I think that would be impossible........the campaign is to stop Tesco selling live turtles to be slaughtered for food.......they aren't killed humanely and a lot of the turtles are endangered.
The main problem is the hypocrisy ......... if you read Tesco's Mission Statement it's the complete opposite of what happens in THEIR stores in China. No one involved in the campaign is niave enough to think the Chinese people will suddenly stop eating turtle.....but Tesco is a western based company who are fully aware of how these turtles are being killed, for mere pennies of profit.
Lets not confuse this issue, this is NOT about the Chinese people as a race or their culture......its about Tesco.

firstly, they make alot more than 2p obn each.
Secondly, it is not only tesco, ASDA (wal mart), and many others sell live turtles.
And although the body may remain alive and thrash after the decapitation, the animal is dead, it is nerve implulses, The head dies in seconds due to loss of O2 and blood. That is simple biology. The body moves in the same way as the tail of a gecko for instance.
And the chinese do alot of things, Throw newborns onto the street if they are female, kill and eat dogs on streets etc, this is one relatively harmless aspect.

The turtles are all farmed in facilities, and are CB.

In western world, we sell live lobsters that are boiled alive, and our slaughter houses kill by Bolt guns, electric shock and cutting the throat.

Its not an issue of china, the whole world has issues with slaughter.

BUT OF COURSE IF YOU DONT SEE IT IT DOESNT MATTER RIGHT?
