Default Live turtles sold in supermarkets :o

Hey guys i'm not sure what the forum rules are for posting petitions and alike..i couldn't find any info n no mods showin up as being online. So i'll post it here..n if for some reason it's not allowed feel free to lock it as u see fit.

Basically Tesco are selling live turtles in their stores in China, to be sold as food.

Now first of i don't agree with eatin a turtle..but i know some will say 'well people eat chicken'. So my complaint isn't that they're sold as food as such, it's that they're sold Live.for the consumers to take home n kill however they wish.. this to me is totally irresponsible and inhumane

there is a petition that has been started here http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/518761759

they need 50,000 signatures before they can send it off to Tesco. so if u agree that what they're doing is wrong please, please PLEASE sign it. As Tesco would say 'every little helps'. (lets see if they stick to this when they get that sent to em!)

'thats life'! so if you went to a shop and they gave you a live sheep to take home and kill as you please that would be ok??
The point is,they are not being killed humanely and to be sold live is disgraceful, like i said, this thread isnt about getting into a debate, just to make the petition available to people if they want to sign it!

Lol, Know i wouldnt want to kill a sheep myself and eat it but some people do, back in the old days people would, I do feel sorry for the turtles but its there way of life, and why are you taking it out on tescos they arn't killing them and i am pretty sure they are not the only place in china that sell live turtles, diversity makes life what it is it would be boring if everything was the same

Its the manner in which they are killed which is cruel and barbaric, they have their heads chopped off in the middle of the shop.
The outcry is not to do with the culture of the Chinese people, it is their way of life to eat most things and lot of us westerners would cringe at (dogs, cats, horses)........it is down to the fact that Tesco is a western based company and knows there are no animal protection laws in China, neither are there any guidelines and laws that we have when it comes to slaughtering animals. They make something like 2p on each turtle they kill, not a very healthy profit margin considering the outcry it has caused, plus the amount of people who have stopped shopping in Tesco because of it. Plus the turtles suffer terribly....imagine not dying immediately if your head was chopped off, this is what happens, sometimes they can live for up to 20 minutes after decapitation.
A lot of the turtles that are being sold in Tesco stores in China are actually endangered species which will become extinct if they are continually killed on this basis
Not wanting to start another 'war', just giving my humble opinion and personal view.
