Hi there,
As other have rightly advised, a viv is not a suitable environment for a tortoise for lots of reasons (too much humidity, not enough room to thermoregulate, lack of space) so it would be best if you could get them out into a table top as soon as you can. An old bookcase (without the drawers) or something similar would be much more beneficial for the torts until you can sort something more permanent out. As to the male/female problem........definately seperate them, in such a small space there is nowhere for your female to escape the unwanted and continuous attention of a randy male. In the wild torts only get together to mate, once the deed is done the female will wander off to escape the male.....this is very, very hard to do in captivity, even in a large garden as a male tortoise thinks about sex from the minute he wakes from hibernation until the minute he goes back to sleep (and probably dreams about it too). Many keepers keep several females to one male to reduce the amount of stress this constant attention brings. You may need to seperate them permanently and although it sounds drastic, if you don't do this the health of the female will seriously suffer.....plus a male can cause lots of damage to the shell by repeated bashing to force the female into submission. Please go to Tortoise Trust Web - Start Page and Tortoises for lots of good advice on tortoise husbandry. Hope this helps
