No not for a heat source, just because thet is the best place, but it could go somewere else.

What wattage bulb is nessecary? 40W 60W?

when i used seperate i used to use 60w. though i suppose it depends on the setup.how far away u need it to get the temp right, or whether ur using a stat..never had a problem with the 60w ones tho
