Ok here is what i advise.
If you have the room reds are very easy to look after just many people get scared when you mention humidity which is very very easy to acheive. They don't hibernate Also for beginners i would advise horsfields, ibera's,hermanns, marginated. Horsfields love to dig so your outside enclourse will have to have some sort of wire mess at the bottom so you dont loose them, they can eat eat eat so you have to watch what they are eating. They do hibernate. Ibera's and hermanns don't get too big or too small just a nice size, but require a large outside enclosure and inside enclosure like all tortoises. They do hibernate. I have no experence of marginated tortoises but they can get rather big and quite hard to come by, stunning tortoises.
