Don't take this the wrong way, but it seems to me you don't know what you want, and this is not the best way to go about it, why don't you take a step back and really think about this and get a few books, read up on all the types of tort you are interested in, then make your decision

Tortoise's or any pet come to that, are not toys and should not be bought just because its the latest fad, you should be fully commetted to put in time, research and loving care when buying ant pet

In my opinion tropicals are not the ideal 'first tortoise' - their husbandry needs are very different from meds and given you are really starting from the beginning I would not recommend a tropical for you.

But as you have advised previously to 'ignore' those with the experience and knowledge you no doubt will on this!

I have seen too many tropicals given up for rehoming because the previous owner realised too late that they could not keep the tortoise(s) correctly.

I don't know anything about Redfoots to be honest. And with the Internet being full of incorrect advice I think you need to talk with someone who knows how to look after them properly.

I still think Hermann's would be better!

I think a med tortoise would suit you better but Blondesarah on here keeps loads of redfoots, she'd be a safe bet for advice if you go down that route.

As long as you research first reds/ cherrys are great tortoises very very easy to house and feed.
I have a few red foot rehomers most people find new homes because they didnt research first, and when they find out how big they get and how they need a humid environment they get scared.

Humdity does not have to be air humdity just substrate, all you needs is a substrate that holds mositure e.g repti bark, sand and soil, and spray every day even the tortoises.

I feed mine 60% green 40% fruit. With cat buscuits now and then.

UVB not too much for these guys about 4-5 hours because in the wild they would hardly come accross it and it damages their eyes.

Red foots are stunning tortoises and should not be over looked as first time tortoises, just do your research!!!!
