Default How to choose the right U.V. light

Hi,

A few of the threads this week have got around to talking about lighting for your tort table, I like to use the combined bulbs (powersun/T-Rex) and decided this after alot of research before getting my tort, but their is this one report that i found very helpful when trying to decide what to use in my table, so i thought i would post a link to it on this thread, for anyone else who is trying to work what is best to use.

High UVB Mercury Vapour Lamps in Zoos - Osram Ultra-Vitalux - ReptileUV Zoo Mega-Ray test results

Now i'm not saying you have to have a combined bulb because that is what i use, i'm saying read this guide it covers all the different methods and decide for your self!

If nothing else you might find it a very interesting read like i did!

I opened that up and decided it was too much for my brain to take in at the moment!!

I have used, for 5 years now, the UV strip light (reptiglo or reptisun 10.0) and a spot light as a basking lamp. Have to say I have never had a problem so I shall just carry on with it!

I personally think the main benefit of a combined lamp is just that do both in one. I use one and it's great. Good link thanks for that

The combined it brilliant. I used to use strips but will never go back.

I put one up for my reds and ibera's and they started eating the air they could not understand where all this UVB was coming from (they soon calmed down) their behaviour appetite has doubled. So i really really recommend them.
