Question hibernation- when???

hello, im new to all this so would appreciate your opinions. i am geting a new baby horsfield who was born june 07, should i hibernate him this year or is he too young? if so when should i look at doing this and for how long? thanks in advance, find the whole hibernation thing a bit daunting, regards rochelle

If it's your first tort you might want to over winter it this year and then find out how to hibernate in time for next winter... It won't be that long before we are all thinking about next winter!!

He isn't too young to hibernate, they would if they were in the wild, but at his age, and with you not having him long before the winter sets in then if I were you I think I would keep him awake (if you can!) this winter.

Here's a useful website.
The Tortoise House < go to hibernation on the left hand menu.

Providin he's healthy..n u read that up n make preparations in time isee no reason why he can't be hibernated
