Default Nettles

Does anyone feed their torts nettles? I think it's just the stem of the plant that stings but not sure. If I'm wrong how do stop the leaves stinging before feeding? Thanks,

Ben

Nettles are high in oxalates, so I prefer not to feed them to my creep !

One person is actually selling them dried as beneficial tortoise food, so do beware of these individuals

Actually your standard nettle (Urtica diocea) will sting all the time.

The ones with flowers you are referring to are dead nettles and carry no sting. The flowers are usually white or purple, but there are a number of non-flowering species in this group too.

I have offered them to my horsfields as part of a mixed weed diet.
I squashed them in a plastic bag to get rid of the sting.
