But if people get good info from coming here and being pointed in the right direction then they are going to recommend others come here to be given the good pointers too. I do not disallow links on my forum and we are all happy bunnies there. The only links I disallow are to to dealers ads.

I think sometimes the problem is when someone asks a question instead of it being answered they are posted to a link to look at, unfortunatly that means that you have leave the forum temporarily to look at the info on that site where as it would be better for it to be posted on here for all to see, I think the tortoise section has improved greatly over the last few days and it's nice to see everyone getting on and sharing information which is the main purpose so it would be nice to see less links and for everyone to concentrate on providing as much info as possible on this site for all to share and see straight away.
We now have some sticky threads and we have alot of members on here who are beginning to post where before were reluctant to do so, many long standing members who have tortoises never posted on this section before but are beginning to do so and share knowledge, so while there are other tortoise groups out there all with good information lets concentrate on improving the information on the rfuk shelled section rather than diverting members to other forums.

As an example, I recently saw someone ask for help regarding breeders on this section and instead of any help they received 3 links to other forums/sites all of which they had to register on to get this list of breeders. I dont see why these sites are closed to public view if the information they hold is so valuable.

I should point out that to my knowledge we have not removed a direct link to another forum or site if a user is being directed to a particular page with caresheet or information they require! only if a person is blindly being told to register elsewhere if they want "other help".

You ain't listening top tort it would never fit on. I could easily copy and paste a section of information but some smart arse would pop up and say 'what's the use of posting all that, why not condense it'. Well it may have escaped your notice but some of us have day jobs and not very well paid ones at that, so we are not going to sit on here for hours on end composing essays for someone else's list for the hell of it are we ?

sorry i thought we were doing all this for the benefit of tortoises and helping to provide info to ensure healthy happy torts, surely if the correct info is going to get across by typing a few extra words i can only see the beneift in doing so, you imply this is too difficult to do this for this forum and yet you will for others, I thought it was about the tortoises best interests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! making sure all forums providing the correct info benefits more tortoises because more people will see hence the less chance of tortoise forums all offering different advice.

Im not sure why you think hes not listening... I dont really get what your saying. Tortoise care and help sheets wont fit on the forum? im also not sure who this smart arse would be as im sure any information here would be appreciated rather than complaining that information is to detailed.

I'm sorry i don't understand why you make it feel that such information is secret/priviledge and for certain members only, Surely it is in everyones interest to improve info on here, the atmosphere is so much nicer but i still feel a few certain members not happy and there have been a few sly comments here and there, i cannot understand why the attuide, am i the only one who thinks the shelled section has improved for the better!

in my opinion you can never have to much information...more the better.
