You have already been told by T-Bo that it is "ok" to link to a specific page/resource, but not the title page of another forum.

How would you like it if people came to your forum, and at every question said "go here www.reptileforums.co.uk"

Same as the powers that be dont like "go to the TT" "go to shelled warriors" etc on thier forum!

So if somone asks " anyone know of a good dealer" you can post a link.

Simalarly if anyone asks "anyone know of a tortoise vet" you can post a link there.

Or it is permissable to say "go to this page [page of forum with relavent info where you dont have to register etc]"

I have links to other sites in my links section - it's what friends do! I also posted a lilst of ALL my members to the TPG so they could invite each and every member to their new group. Ask them if you like. We are not kids in the playground - are we?

The reason I put a link to it was because good info on turts here is rather limited, this is a great site (I wouldn't be here otherwise!) but there are certain species that are not well represented, and if people want info on those species it seemed to make sense to tell them where they could find it.

If someone came on the Terrapin Tank site and asked for info on torts I'd send them to a tort site, or if they wanted info on reptiles in general I'd send them here.

I mean if they came here looking for species specific info and didn't find it they wouldn't stay here anyway would they? So RFUK loses nothing, does another site a favour, does some animals a favour, and probably gains some members from other sites!
I would do the same Graham. I never answer questions on aquatics on any site, other than koi, but point them here because you give clear concise answers and seem to know what you are talking about.

So to link from another forum to here is something to be proud of but not vice versa?

I do not think Shot is posting links to this forum for the reasons we would like him to. I would suggest if you do not like the rules and find them hard to follow then maybe not use the forum at all. You obviously have a good knowledge of tortoises and could be a real benefit to the forum but at the moment you and your friends seem intent to disrupt this section as much as possible. I do not know many forums that would allow threads basically demanding to know why certain people should be allowed to break the rules just because its about tortoises. I do hope people do not come here first asking for advice because all I can see them getting is a load of snotty comments that will surely put them off asking again. I am sure you and your fellow tort friends will tell me how wrong I am and how poorly moderated this forum is but then still continue to come here everyday anyway.

You have a very selective view of posts. You obviously missed that shot was having a sly dig, and you seem to miss every explaination of the situation.. blindly ignoring what is said and going over points which have been answered.

I will confirm for the umpteenth time and close this thread.
  • Links to forums blatantly advertising in sigs or otherwise are not allowed.
  • Giving a link to a closed forum asking people to register elsewhere if they want help instead of actualy helping is not allowed.
  • DIRECT Links to information or care sheets relating to a question asked IS allowed no matter where that information is shown forum or otherwise.
Simple aye?
