Default Questions

Would you please answer these questions:

Im buying a tortoise table and need to know about the substrate. In the hide do you use hemp aswell as outside? Also is it a good idea to use soil and sand in a little tray?

Is a 100W bulb ok for a tortoise table such as this one:
Tortoise Tables

Thank you

for some reason that link didn't work for me hun.

If it's the tables with the plastic tray on wheels..then soil/sand are to heavy for the entire table apparantly (think it was shot who said this)

So hemp is perfect with litter trays of say sand/soil, pebbles etc

also you say 100w bulb do you mean combined?? as in heat/uvb,(Powersun,t-rex,megaray?)

It should be fine. As long as you make sure you can get the hot spot right. (u can always raise or lower the heat lamp i suppose)

I tend to put the substrate at the very minimum deep enough for the tort to cover itself. I have horsfields who are fantastic diggers, they really enjoy it. so the deeper the better. Good for all tortoises to have deep substrate though as it helps them to thermoregulate n escape the heat.

Ill be getting Hermans. Also will i need a ceramic holder to hold the bulb? Or will just the clamp lamp be ok?

Are these tortoise tables reccomended and can you say if theyre any good?

Is it right to put pebbles in the water and how deep should the water be? Also where do you place the food?

Should you make their hideaway different from the main place in the tortoise table and how many hides do they like?

Thanks

Ceramic holder? you mean like with snakes? Or do you mean the reflectors? The dome reflectors are needed really, as it directs the heat n uvb downwards so it doesnt escape everywhere.

These tortoise tables are highly recommended..if it is the one i thought you were trying to link to lol

pebbles in the water are necessary for hatchlings, as it allows them to still dirnk without the risk of drowning. Mine are older n no longer needt he pebbles.

I always place the food at the cool end of the table so it doesnt get affected by the heat n wilt rappidly.

I Have a den, (big box) in the cool end so that they can completely escape the heat if they want. n plant pots dotted around which kiara loves.but deemo prefers knocking out of the way lol

in regards to table i think that's everything, though i'm sure someone will correct me.

When you getting your tort? Just to let you know most breeders will be winding down for hibernation soon. so if you want to get one from a breeder you may end up waiting until around march?

lol

I think she meant the ceramic bulb holder - essential to hold high wattage lamps - could be wrong though. Never hang a uvb/heat lamp from a normal lamp holder
