Don't panic Ben, what you are proposing is fine for your little ones for quite some time. Yes the bigger the better when they are adult and torts are good at telling you what you have done wrong too. You would not believe how many people think they have got it spot on and then the torts decide otherwise. Positioning and climate are far more important than acres. My last garden was huge but my torts were nowhere near as settled as they are here. They have claimed a central area as their nesting site and decided that lovely 'well positioned' hides and cold frames are not to thier liking and they would prefer them in the middle of a favourite flower border thank you very much.
