Default help

how do you measure a tortoise plastron, i need ti apply for a new article 10 when the plastron reaches 100mm and i am just slightly confused how to measure.
Also how do i apply for another certificate, do i call defra?
Please help.
I have a spur thigh tortoise who is 4 years 4 months.

you can put a piece of paper on the floor by a wall and put the tortoise against the wall and on the paper then a line.
You proberly dont understand this so heres a link...

its the under side(belly) of the shell ,just use a tape measure and measure from one end of the shell to the other.

The length your are looking to measure is not the plastron length but the SCL. Plastrons can vary enormously in comparison to the SCL depending on how the tortoise has been reared. DEFRA are not too bright are they?
Are you selling your tortoise? If not then you do not need to apply for a new cert at all. To do this you would have to microchip which is quite an invasive procedure for such a small tortoise Wouldn't do it myself
