Post Substrate mistake

Now toytoise girl will become my mum....as she has her herman before her birthday...Thanks everybody for your help! xx Only thing i did wrong was pick up the wrong compost to mix with his playsand? would he be ok until morning with just play sand? Thanks guys x

play sand on its own is a bit of a no no as it can get stuck in their eyes, nostrils etc.

if you put a towel in the tortoise table that will be fine for a day. Alot of people do this when their torts are going down for hibernation so they don't eat the substrate.

I would just use a towel for today. SOme people just use a towel all of their time of having a tortoise.

just top soil (with no fertilizers n rubbish in..or am i just being picky now?)

Blimey - I hope not, that is just cruel!

As said, a towel for a short interim period is fine.

i heard you should put it in the freezer, then sive it.

you can put it in the freezer as this would kill any bugs but then again when you put them outside in the summer you can't stop bugs then !!

i picked up a compost with added chemical etc i want organic compost that hasnt had anything added. I wont keep him on the towle(will use overnight) im goin to make his table really exciting....he already has a few places to go under and little pebbles to climb over....he's always having a good tour....really happy chappy....
