Best to add that ingredients are "herbs from the hayfield", this is lost in the German translation on the box. Not sticking up for the product in anyway - just pointing out the inaccuracies that have occured during translation.

Okay, to put this to bed. We all agree that these pretty coloured pelleted foods are not to be in a tortoise diet. So how about we at least agree that we can all choose our own methods of educating tortoise keepers not to use them - you do it your way, and I do it another - surely if the end result is the same it doesnt matter?

And for clarification, because it apprears to need it, I dont pay my mortgage on the sales of pelleted foods. I do pay for it by selling the other goods, supplied by the same suppliers, and, whether you think it happens or not, I have to stock pelleted foods as part of a complete package to keep said supplier happy.

hi, if you knowlingly know that this is the wrong type of diet to feed then i don't understand why you would waste shelf space to stock a item you have no intention of selling also why would a supplier say stock this or you can't have other stock from us, that doesn't make sense surely you as the shop keeper have the upperhand afterall you are buying it from them to sell. why should you keep stock supplier happy he should be wanting to keep you happy so you will keep stocking his items.
By you stocking it and saying you do so to re educate new owners just confuses the issue, ie it's rubbish but i sell it plus by you keep selling it tells the manufacturer that there is a demand, stop selling it and then there will be less demand and then the manufacturers of these dried diets will take the hint things have changed and stop making it.

I knew nothing on this type of diet but after researching it and especially the coloured pellets i can see no real benefit by tortoises eating it.
I am very supportive of petshops but i'm afraid this does not make the pet shop look very good at all.
sorry i have to agree with sue on this one!

Just to come in and back up whats been said, (not that i really need to or should have to) In the business world normal consumer laws dont exist, business is done on contracts and it usually goes on the premise if you buy 10,000 of super duper quick selling product A you must also buy 100 of not so super duper not so quick selling product B. Depending on what you buy, who you buy from and what the agreement is between both parties. Best example I can give of this is pubs that are tied to breweries, to get top selling lager A they must stock drink that nobody likes B. And to refuse to stock product B means no supply of product A.

This product in question is Dried Grass and weeds, otherwise known as Hay. It provides fibre.

HI,

I don't know why if any pet shop is going to cater for torts, that they can't sell seeds and growing kits!!

As weeds are the best thing for a healthy tort !!!

I have looked at the care sheet on V-Max (site link in his signiture) for torts and the food advise is wrong it even says on the sheet that Hermanns can have fruit, it lists different lettices and spring greens, refers to only a couple of weeds, maybe if the shops gave better care advise, then maybe there customers would make better choices when it come to buying for their pet!!
