The smallest tortoise in the world is the Speckled Padloper (homopus signatus), but you won't find those avalible as pets.

Horsfields are probably the smallest growing to a max of around 20cm. Hermanns are a little bigger.

Some Indian Stars stay small, but the Sri Lanken race have been known to attain upto 30cm in length. I am led to beleive these are the more commonly avalible type in the country.

have a look in the caresheet section for advice on the care of med torts (hermans or horsfield)

oh, i thought horsfieds were a bit bigger than hermans
