Default Hamm reptile show

I really want to go to one of these shows probs late next year so I can get some reptile funds lol.
Just a few questions though
1. How much is the whole trip ie getting there, back and inside.
2.what would I expect to see? basically will I see torts and stuff to buy for my torts?
and last but not least (i think)
3. how long does it take to get there and get back? is it a 1 day thing or do you need to stay overnight? (not a big fan on travelling or staying away but really want to go)

Have been three times myself so far (will be back there again in December). It costs about 10 Euros to get in and is about a 6 hour drive from Calais in France.

Apart from the fact that there is a dedicated venomous room, its basically the same as any show you get in the UK but on a bigger scale.

Oh, its always very crowded too!

There is an IHS show (members only) on 18th November in Rodbaston College (Birmingham way), that is the only one I know of in the UK now - there are more in the summer months than winter.

The focus is usually on snakes/lizards/inverts, but you occasionally get a breeder with some tortoises there.

With the stress on occasional - all breeders I know avoid these places like the plague - I would not even sell to anyone admitting to frequenting these places

Why avoid them like the plague Sue? they are okay to go and have a look at especially if you like crowds and thousands of fellow reptile keepers.!!

And stressed animals I know it is probably just me but I tend to think of people wanting to do this sort of thing being the type to bury their heads in the sand, a bit like the ones who go to dolphin shows and who keep rabbits in hutches!

what an awful judgement! virtualy every person i know who keeps herps has been or wants to/intends to go to hamm etc, i actualy find that pretty offensive to judge people in that rediculous manner! and as for saying you would not sell one of your babies to anyone who goes there.....well i think that is very wrong to assume that someone who goes to hamm is not a worthy or capable keeper!! you have a very bad view of people on the whole from all the posts i read from you! yes there are bad keepers and good keepers as with EVERYTHING in life! but to judge someone on that basis is just madness!.......
