How long would it take a torto get like that and is there any thing that can be done to help it. Can the shell grow back or is that a silly question?

Wrong again Andrew - do not make statements like 'that would be tamie milne's tortoise' when you are clearly not in receipt of all the facts.

The tortoise was only a few years old, her deformities were only one of her many problems, the damage is irreversible I am afraid. However, the tortoise is now doing well with a very caring TT member, experienced with such torts.

I saw something very similar to this at the weekend in Germany, it was an Indian Star Tort though. It is heartbreaking and there are far too many cases around.
