Hello, i appologise in advance for my lack of knowledge, i have the pleasure of two tortoises in my home due to a family bereavement, not sure on thier breed i think helman and horsefield, i can supply pics and answer any questions. They have been with us 3 months and they approx 5 years old, they are both different breeds. I want them to go to a good home, preferably someone who knows how to care for them, i dont feel comfy keeping them as i am a complete amateaur. I have seperated them as one annoys the other so i am willing to split them, they both feed from my hand so are tame. I will also supply thier large vivariums with each

I will pass this on to Tams and hopefully someone from the tortoise trust can speak to them and encourage them to allow them to be rehomed via that so that they can ensure they are cared for correctly.

Glad you have put Tamie onto this, there are so many unscrupulous people around nowadays willing to take advantage of the pllight of such torts. Hopefully they will be seperated and quarantined before going to new homes. Good luck with them.

Thank you so much Christy; have spoken with the lady and she had already been approached with offers of money and even a 'sanctuary' had been in touch.

She is concerned over the responses she has received so far and has asked if, with a lot of guidance and advise, she would be able to keep them. Hopefully, I will work with her to help her understand their needs in terms of diet and husbandry and she will then feel confident to keep them. She is already looking at creating tortoise tables for each, so that is a good start.

Brilliant result if this happens!

Thanks again for bringing this to my attention.

Thank you too - I will always try and help with rehoming and even getting the person to keep the tortoise(s) if that is what they really want to do, as seems to be in this case.

So thanks to your post and Athravan some good will come of it !!

Tamie
