I enclose a link of a picture of a ploughshare. I can see your point and I may be wrong but the scute under the chin of a ploughshare is very long and sticks out looking rather delicate!

I would agree it is high domed but that scute is a givaway in yniphora.

Ploughshare tortoise - Geochelone yniphora: More Information - ARKive

the spaces in the link are _ how do you put a link in with out writing it out!!

As far as I'm aware the ploughshare tortoise is only found in Madagascar. It's believed to be one of the rarest land tortoise species. Also the gular scute (the protrusion under the chin, to whihc you are referring)is found in both males and females. Tho males get to a larger size in general.

he's a very busy man drummerkid. He doesn't check the forums as often as us saddos do he owns and works in Coast to Coast exotics. which takes up alot of his time, along with his research(off what i've read)

As i've mentioned before if you want a reply if you pm him and link this thread you should get more results. HTH

Have you ever personally visited coast to coast? I'm guessing not based on where you live.

Since i moved up here i've visited, and their advice has been top notch. Yes their display tortoises for sale are in vivs, the smaller ones. the larger are in huge enclosures. But in a pet shop environment its hard to maintain tortoise tables.

When i was in there i checked the food the various species were fed on and the substrate etc. And trust me everything was spot on.

I'll pm u as well
