Since i moved up here i've visited, and their advice has been top notch. Yes their display tortoises for sale are in vivs, the smaller ones. the larger are in huge enclosures. But in a pet shop environment its hard to maintain tortoise tables.

When i was in there i checked the food the various species were fed on and the substrate etc. And trust me everything was spot on.

I'll pm u as well
I've only glanced at their website and heard about them through another member.

i was told "we tend to avoid coast to coast"

but its good to here everything is up to scratch

I didn't say It was ok. In an ideal world tortoises would ALL be in tortoise tables or outdoor enclosures...or even better..the wild, however in a pet shop environment where space is limited thats not always possible. No shops keep torts in tables due to security issues. Now i know a couple of shops who's tortoises are completely off display and you have to 'order' them in as such. As a rule i dont like the idea of shops selling tortoises..however at least coast to coast give the correct advice out regarding them, unlilke alot of other well known shops. No I won't name names as the forum could be liable.

so no i'm not 'off it pet'. i'm interested in snakes, lizards amphibs not just chelonia, and coast to coast knowledge has been top notch and spot on. So stop looking at things in such a pigeon holed manner,

they dont recommend tortoise tables or even sell them, thye have 4 adult redfoots in a small enclosure that never see the light of day,use fruit and veg for all their torts.they keep the camen in their shop window with only a small baby bath to swim in,would you like me to keep on going or do you agree. katiexx i dont think you know what you are on about

grow up.

When i've visited coast to coast on several occasions, not all their torts were fed on fruit and veg, there were weeds present with the meds, the care requirements of the indian stars were met. the caimen wasnt there last time i went admittedly so no i cant comment on that.

There are other things, in the making as such, which will hopefully happen soon.to improve knowledge and education which is handed out.

I never said coast to coasts care of tortoises was spectacular, however I have seen alot lot worse. The only reason you're slagging off coast to coast is because it's a well known shop, and no this wasn't the first time.

I took some pictures of some of the torts in the local rep shop today which i'll upload when i gain access to my own pc..now that would make coast to coast n more shops look like a five star palace for torts..thats how bad it was, i didnt get pics of all torts as the owner came in n wasnt impressed, but i took some.

Well people like that dont deserve to own any animal! if you only take advice from one source your doomed from the start. Any owner of any animal should research months before ever buying. And Katie knows her jazz so if she says it up to scratch i believe her.
