Hi,

sounds like is could be urates which is normal and comes out a bit like toothpaste, if it comes out all chalk like gritty bits your tort is dehydrated!!
It just gives you good Indication on whether your tort is getting enough calcium !! sounds like it is, remember with torts you should use nutrobal or lime flour on the weeds, nutrobal should be put on the weeds in a light sprinkle every day for hatchlings and at least 3 times a week for older torts and the rest of the week sprinkle lime flour!!

I would take your tortoise to the vets sounds like an abscess of some kind. Please only use a vet that is confident with tortoises and is recommended.

i would say its too cold to be outside right now, a cardboard box is better really for a short amount of time

Can you post pics of the problem area? It could be a prolapse, a photo is needed though. Either way I would get an appointment with a specialist vet booked - better to be safe than sorry.

The torts will adapt but it may take them time, some just take to a new environment, others struggle to cope with the freedom.
