That's OK, we got there in the end!

I'm particularly interested in the 60W externally ballasted Mega-Rays myself, for use in the smaller turtle tanks. As the tanks are more enclosed than tort tables the heat output of the higher wattage MVBs is a problem, until now anything less than a 4' tank tended to overheat.
Hopefully though these new ones can be used in much smaller tanks, so even little turts can now feel the benefits of high level UVB!

For my 35" by 25" enclosure would it be a good idea to use a mega ray 100w?

Also what do you hold them in?

Yes that should be perfect.

They get hot so you need a ceramic bulb holder with a high temperature cable, and preferably a dome reflector to stop you burning yourself on the bulb and to protect it from damage, and they look nicer than a bare bulb too!

You can buy a ready made reflector/ceramic/cable setup, T-Rex for example do them, you can also use the ones that are made for poultry which tend to be a bit cheaper, make sure whatever you get is physically big enough for the size of bulb though, and rated for the correct wattage.

The Clamp Lamp is rated for the right wattage, but you may need to check that the reflector is deep enough as the bulbs are quite big, if the bulb sticks out of the reflector then there's not much point using it.
