Hi Sue.
The Cert i have with the Tortoise is origin Lebanon, but i have PMed pics to a certain friend of yours- Lets call her Mrs T-who has helped me ID it as an Ibera, she has a purpose built indoor "enclosure" for bad days and where she was kept at night during the summer months for security reasons, she has otherwise been out all the time and for the last 3 years has been fed on a various weed only diet, nutrobal, cuttlefish, heat, UV light etc, and is in visual general good health, she did have a slugging period at the beginning of the year (sleeping a lot and not eating much) but has picked up and has been feeding well since, i have hibernated her twice before using the fridge method but i took her out of hibernation last winter after approx 35 days because i thought she was too underweight. Sue could i email some pics to you for you opinion please. |

Yes they came through to my SPAM - she is beautiful. She is underweight though for hibernation if your measurements are correct. How long have you had her and where from? She has the shell growth of a wild tortoise but the claws and beak of a viv tort, suggesting she has been on soft foods and with no outdoor exercise for some time. Make sure you have meaured her correctly as in here Tortoises (scroll down to hibernation section) and not just the plastron or over the top. It must be SCL (straight carapace length). For her length she should weigh around 900 grams. I would say if wild caught imported she is most likely older than 7 . Lovely tort though.
