Default Saved!

Just thought I'd post this pic of a little Cumberland Slider that I picked up this morning, the kid that had it has lost interest and it wasn't being well cared for, it had no UVB, no filter, fed only on bloodworm, and a dirty tank.
It's just under 2" SCL, and has a slightly deformed plastron as a result of poor diet and lack of UVB, but that should sort itself out in time. It's in my quarantine tank now and I had it eating broken up T-Rex pellets within an hour of getting it home, and as you can see it's now basking happily.
It won't be staying here as I'm not really into keeping sliders, so some time in the future when I'm sure it's perfectly healthy it'll be going to a permanent new home.

Well done Graham on saving this little slider, a very rewarding experience knowing you have saved an animal from a terrible miserable existance.

Good luck with the rehabbing!

The kid's mum was very nice and was concerned that the turt would be well looked after, it was she who saved it really, taking the time to find people who really would give it a good home.
She came to me via the Terrapin Tank forum having contacted one of the other mods on there earlier in the week, but apparently she'd been trying to find someone suitable for several months.
Many of the petshops she spoke to gave her rather worrying advice, telling her to quietly dispose of it in the nearest pond or lake, and then telling her "You didn't hear that from us of course", great to know there are such wonderful responsible people in the pet trade!

Is there a Cumberland River?

Unfortunately when I think of Cumberlands I think of sausages!
