Default Shell rot in red footed tortoise.

Here is my new male, due to being kept very dry and sitting in his own wee. His shell is quite damaged. He is 12 inches long

omg the poor thing. thank god you've got him now to give him a proper home.

worries me how people can think leaving a tortoise to sit in its own waste is ideal.

they wouldn't let themselves get in that state,so by what method of logic do they believe it's okay for animals?!

There is nothing wrong with himself he eats well. But if left for much longer it would have been a different story. People buy red foots and dont understand that they need a humid environment, which is really easy to create.
