Default Can they live outside

Can you keep tortoises outside here in the Uk?

I recall a friend from years back and his parents kept their tortoise in the garden.

yes and no, depends how warm it is. at my old house i had a heated shed where thet tortoises could go to stay warm if it was slightly to cool outside, and where they could bask to warm up. As it is here i've not long moved house so currently the tortoises are living in the tort table whist their outdoor accomodatioin is fully completed (not to mention its freezing here atm! )
