Default Topsoil

i'm not sure if this has been asked before, i have my topsoil now to mix with the sand but wasnt sure if i needed to freeze it first?

It might be a good idea so that any little bugs can be removed.

make sure you sieve it after you've frozen it though

If its sterilised topsoil (which is what is reccomended) there is no need. I know some people who heat their topoil in the oven before using it. I don't and have never had any problems.

I fill my entire garden with sterilised soil for my torts. Only kidding

I never freeze mine, but for smaller tortoises i always remove all the soil and give a good clean out every couple of months (i spot clean every day).

In my opinion freezing topsoil will not remove bacteriar/bugs etc. It will just make them lie dormant until it's warmed up again. I have heard of people putting it in the oven which i think would be more effective but as everyone else has said if it's sterilised there shouldn't be any need anyway. Hope this helps

Thts why you have to sieve it after. But putting in the oven sounds like a better approach.
