Thermostats are meant to keep temps stable. Stable temps for torts are not a good idea as they NEED to be able to choose their temps as nature intended. They need hot temps and cool temps in order to thrive
Hope this helps

tortoises have an ideal temperature between 28 and32c so if you set a thermostat at 30c with your probe in the middle ov your table you will get a cool end an ideal temperature in the middle and a hot end so your tortoise can chose cool off or warm up ,

Not really. 30-32c isn't an 'ideal temperature'

basking temperature yes. but not for a permanant temperature.

If that's the temperature in the middle of the table how warm is the hot end

I was asking what temperature your hot end of the table is. 30-32c is recommended for basking temperatures, if the middle of the table is this and the hot end is hotter..then the tortoise cannot escape the heat quite so easily and thermoregulate to get the correct body temperature

yes but the overall temp is too high in general.the cool end is just that a cool end..the way described doesnt allow the torts to choose any sort of 'inbetween' temperature if you will.it just seems to give them set temps
