I'm going to take more pictures later from all different angles...

How big do they grow on average? I'm just worried that it will grow too big. At the moment they are both approx. 3 inches shell lenght. I know females are larger than male.

You might have noticed I edited my post! I couldn't see both pix at first and thought the one at the back looked like a slider, but having seen the other pic I think it's more likely a cooter!

Accurate IDs are sometimes very difficult!

Assuming it's a Penn Cooter it could grow to 13" if it's female, 9" if it's male.

And the Map could grow to 10" for a female, typically half that size for a male.

At 3" it might just be possible to sex the Map, the other one you probably will have to wait a couple of years to be sure.
If you can get some underside shots with the tails extended that would help.

As promised, here are more pictures from various angles...

... I also have a question...since UVB light cannot pass through the transaprent hood...I have removed this and replaced it with a chicken wire. I am concerned the water vapours will form around the UVB tube...therefore may give rise to electrocution! Is this arrangement ok? If not, what is your suggestion?

Many thanks,
