as much as i agree with people researching their new pets i think most books and dvds about tort care are a pile of garbage! still to the internet and forums such as these, i have a tort care book here which i got when i first bought my tort and it tells me a whole range of vegetable and fruit i should be feeding my hermanns! oh, and it tells me about how I should definately have a heat mat for her....

its like with the tort pellets and nutrobol (well, not everyday), people assume (and myself included when i first got her) that cos their is a picture of the tort on the label means that it is perfect for the animal. we all know that this isn't necessarily true. we used to buy trill for our parakeet until our specialist vet told us to cut it out and gave us the proper feeding requirements for her, but cos the trill have the pic of a budgie on it, we assumed (as everyone does) that is was good for her.

rant over!

be warned....even if a bulb is still emitting light it does not mean it is still emitting UVB. So to be on the safe side I change mine every year (or will change)
