Thats kinda why i'm asking. Surely they all came from abroad.
I used to keep torts over 20 yrs ago so was wondering why theres not many breeders over here.

Also if you buy a tort, maybe certain types, that is say 5-8 years old- why is it most unlikely its uk bred? That would mean most of the uk breeders have cf or wc breeders?!?!

no i think the point is that cb torts of that age are usually in breeding programmes already. those that come up for sale at that age are very very rare. wheras when they import them you get alot of larger torts.

I give up - if you lot want to go an buy imported torts with all the asociatied stresses and dagners then go for it. I'm off!

why havnt all these torts from the 70's + 80's been bred from?

Mt guess to the question...
because no-one knew how to after them and most died. There was alos no need because they were so readily availabe at cheap prices.
