hi i know this may sound a little stupid but is there anyway of telling the difference between a cherry head and a red foot? I was sold my tort as a red foot but he seems REALLY small and doesnt seem to be growing even though he eats and eats and eats Ive had him to the vets and they said he's healthy so I figured maybe he's actually a cherry head as theyre smaller any way to tell?

Post a picture then I can let you know, even if you have a cherry headed tortoise it should still grow just because they are smallish tortoises doesn't mean they don't grow, how big is it, where did you get it from

I too, noticed very little growth with all of my tortoises, but when I look back at older pictures I think "WOW! look how small they where then!" it might just be your mind playing tricks on you . Keep in mind, that tortoises do grow slowly if cared for correctly, so it might just be you haven't had them long enough to notice any substancial growth in them.

It is offen a common misconception as Darren has said that Cherry heads grow smaller than red foots. They can acually grow to the same size.
Cherry head 'normally' have a very red head.

i use:

ImageShack® - Hosting or TinyPic - Share the Experience!™

You just upload them and then copy the "direct link" and then click the image button thats at the top of here (the yellow square with the mountain by the quote button.) and paste the link you just copied.
