so if there are draughts the ventilation is increased and it isnt as humid in the table therefore less chance od RHS.

I could be completly wrong of course..just my opinion.

Jason =)

Ventilation is a good thing but I have had problems with keeping any sort of reptile on the floor especially in a shed in the winter I always make sure that they are raised off the ground a little. Draughts are a source of ventilation but a very cold one!

An open top enclosure you have all the ventilation in the world

just my opinum !!!!!

Not always, any incorrect habitat can cause RNS as it is not always an illness as much as a symptom. I have a stunted leopard, incorrectly treated with baytril at a young age which has occasional bouts of rns four years on which always responds to a temporary increase in heat. The others in the same habitat are unaffected either way.

My russians live in burrows below ground (their choice as they know better than we do) and are beautifully smooth (to subject them to life raised above ground would be to mind, unkind), healthy and with not a sign of RNS despite the poor little devils coming from a customs seizure which was infected with crypto. One well known organisation insisted they live in vivs while small (approx 4 years old) and the same organisation lost more than I am sure they would admit to. Mine came from another well known organisation which thought differently and all are thriving Would you like to see their first babies?
I would love to see the babies

I dont think they'd be too cold mate. Especially if they're in a house and as long as they have the correct heating.

Sue keeps hers outside all year round and as she said, shes never had a problem.

Okay Sue, I don't want to get into a row with you about draughts! I would never doubt your abilites and experence even though I am a pet shop man and we are not going to agree on a lot of things.

I am not quite sure why you brought up vivs as I have never put a tortoise in one. One thing I hope we can agree on if you get the conditions near enough perfect our animals will thrive.

End of ,I am going to bed !!

Aw they're gorgeous pictures! A real credit to you Sue.

Top picture makes me think of chocolate shaped like a tortoise...darn cravings. Could be a market there tho
