Default what food for tort

hi my tort is eating lettuce rocket and lollo rosso and small cucumber 2 day he is allways fussy tho now he has started eating he only picks the lollo rosso lettuce out its the one with the red edgeing is this ok for him?

what beeding is good for him 2 he is in sawdust and hay?
was going to use sand wont it get 2 hot under the lights in his table?

I would forget about the cucumber it has nothing in it. Have you access to a garden or a park if you do try and pick some weeds as they are the best and will not cost you anything. If not then the other rocket and the lollo rossa would be okay till the spring as they were on the menu I was given when I bought my egyptions from a uk breeder.

I would not use sawdust and if the sand got too hot your basking spot must be very high. A 50/50 soil sand mix is the best and if the substate is deep he will burrow down try to put some fake plants in they would act as natural cover and he might have fun burrowing under it.

feed 100% weed diet (if its a med)

as for bedding...a 50/50 mix of top soil and play sand.

sawdust + hay are bad.

already explained in your other threads why they're bad. the wort thread.

also you may find sometimes a 50/50 mix of top soil/play sand can get dusty. i tend to use 60/40 top soil/play sand (respectively) to try and combat it a little.
