Well he is quite happily digging again now don't think he liked the taste that much. By the way peeps how much should he be eating coz he is huge ( i think his previous owners fed him way too much) so i am trying to limit him a bit but i don't want him to be hungry.

enough to cover the shell...as a rough guide.

monitor his weight weekly. If he is putting on more than 4g lower the amount of food.

If he is putting on less than 2g increase it a little.

Remember, the key to a long lived tortoise is a slow steady growth. Tortoises use very little energy, which explains their long life.

Haven't got enclosure yet i have to take them for walks so have to make sure they don't eat anything they shouldn't be. Not very practical but need to get my dad to help with enclosure.

my tort used to eat hemp but doesnt anymore... sometimes her topsoil/sand subtrate gets on her food and she will eat it that way but its nothing to worry about.

4 grams a week!!! Try weighing monthly and then use this guide.
